On the occasion of its Autumn 2011 season, the Musée d’art de Joliette, in collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and DHC-ART, invites you to a lecture by the artist and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar. This event will take place at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and will revolve around his work and artistic approach, more specifically on the short film, The Ashes of Pasolini (2009), that commemorates the life of the famous Italian filmmmaker and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) who was assassinated under
mysterious circumstances. In his quest to raise public awareness and make us reconsider the world in a new light, the world acclaimed Chilean artist speaks freely, passionately and unequivocally, taking us into the unique and turbulent world of a great man of letters and cultural figure. Bringing together the specific
properties of the film medium and the far reaching thoughts and ideas of the famous Italian filmmaker and poet, Jaar creates a sensitive and very moving work.
